Lately I’ve noticed that more and more of my lovely students, especially on Saturdays, are visiting Avalon Beach for the morning, the day or the weekend.

Without fail, these people fall in love with our little corner of the world and wish they could stay longer! I always give these visitors my top tips for activities, restaurants, cafes and beaches, so I thought I’d do a little series online to make it easier.

I’m starting with Airbnbs – and there are plenty to choose from in Avalon Beach. Here are my favourites:

The Treehouse on Careel Bay (easy 15 min stroll to Paradise Yoga)

Trust me, you will not be disappointed with a stay at The Treehouse. It’s an impeccable private space surrounded by native bushland, with views over Careel Bay. Run by my friend and dedicated yogi, Took (that’s her nickname, yes!), it’s an exceptional suite that suits singles or couples. It’s a couple of minutes by car into Avalon.

The Treehouse has all the facilities you would expect (except a kitchen, but don’t worry, I’ll soon be writing a post about the top eateries in Avalon!) and has a five-star rating on Airbnb. They also have a kayak they can lend you – and it’s even possible to kayak over to Paradise Yoga!

Be sure to tell Took I sent you!

Artist’s Retreat on Pittwater (ten min walk to Paradise Yoga)

If you’re at all arty, this is the spot for you. It’s a private suite overlooking Pittwater, owned by a renowned sculptor, artist and yogi couple. It’s extremely private and peaceful, totally surrounded by nature. It’s a short walk to Clareville Beach, and directly opposite a fabulous nature reserve. The house and garden are peppered with art made by the owners, and you may even get to meet one of their lovely dogs, Teddy and Bowie.

Ideal for couples and singles looking for peace, quiet and inspiration.

1950s Beach House (easy ten min stroll to Paradise Yoga)

This spot is sunny, private and quiet with water views. It sleeps six, so great for a group or family, and you get the entire house. It’s a renovated beach house, that maintains its retro charm. The house is situated on an elevated private road, so it has some of the best views in Avalon!

Would suit two couples or a family with kids.

Warehouse style studio (this one is a tad further from the studio, probably walkable in 20 mins, but an easy two-min drive)

I’ve had family staying here, so I know it’s a good one and run by great hosts. It has a modern, clean feel with lots and lots of light. It’s just a five minute walk to serene Careel Bay, and a quick drive into Avalon for shops and restaurants.

Ideal for a couple looking for a short break.
