Frequently Asked Questions

Renting The Studio | Selling Products

Q: Can I rent or share your studio? Can I sell my product there?

I appreciate you thinking of me, but I don’t offer the space for rent, sharing, or product sales. I’ve chosen to keep the studio focussed entirely on my own yoga offerings. Thank you for understanding.

Tech Issues

Q: Help! I am having trouble booking a class on the website.

Here are some quick links to guide you:

Still not working? Please call me at 0416 147 009 – I’ll be happy to help!

Info For Newcomers

Q: I’m new – and a little apprehensive.

That’s completely normal – you’re not the only one. Many people feel a little unsure when stepping into a yoga studio for the first time.

Paradise Yoga is a welcoming, non-judgemental space where there’s no pressure to keep up or do things a certain way. You can simply arrive as you are, move at your own pace and know you’ll be supported.

If you’d like a gentler start, I offer a free 30-minute consultation. We can chat about what you’re looking for, and I’ll walk you through how the studio works – so when you arrive at your first class you’ll already feel at home.

Click here to book your free consultation.

Q: Is there any yoga etiquette I should know about?

Yes – but nothing to stress about. Here are the basics:

  • What to wear: Loose, comfortable clothing – no need for fancy yoga gear. Layers are a good idea, so you can adjust as the room (or your body) warms and cools.
  • What to bring: Nothing at all. I provide everything: mats, props, water, and cups.
  • Arrive early: The Owl Door opens 10 minutes before each class. Arriving early gives you time to settle in before we begin.
  • If you can’t make it: Text me on 0416 147 009.
  • If you’re running late: Life happens! Slip in quietly and join in when you’re ready.
  • Shoes off: Please remove shoes before entering the studio. Weatherproof shoe storage is just outside the door.
  • Studio atmosphere: This is a space of quiet and calm – please help keep that feeling before, during, and after class.

Common Health and Mobility Concerns

These are the most common concerns I hear from people when they are taking their first steps into the world of yoga:

Q: What if I’m not flexible?

You don’t need to be flexible to do yoga – that’s a myth. Flexibility is something that builds gradually over time, as a byproduct of regular practice. Your job is to show up, and see what happens.

Q: What if I’m a beginner?

Great – let’s get you started. All my classes are beginner-friendly. I’ll guide you from the moment you arrive, so there’s no expectation that you’ll know anything in advance. Click here for more info for beginners.

Q: What if I’m pregnant?

Congratulations! Yoga isn’t recommended during the first trimester, so once you’ve hit the 12-week mark – and your doctor is happy – come and join us. Just let me know when you arrive, and I’ll provide guidance and modifications as needed.

Q: What if I’m disabled/injured?

I’m trained to adapt yoga to meet your needs on any given day.

That said, please note that there are 50 steps leading down to the studio, which may pose a challenge depending on your situation. If the steps are manageable for you, I’ll take care of adapting the yoga to suit you.

If not, my Chair Yoga classes are held in accessible locations in the Northern Beaches, and might be a better fit.

Feel free to contact me beforehand if you’d like to talk through your specific situation.

Q: What if I live with stress / anxiety / depression / PTSD?

I really encourage you to come! I’m trained in trauma-sensitive yoga, which means I focus on creating a safe, predictable and supportive environment. My approach works with the nervous system and brain – not just the body – and can be genuinely helpful for anxiety, stress and other mental health challenges.

You’re welcome to do as much or as little of the practice as feels right. The focus is on how the poses feel in your body, not on getting poses right.

Q: What if I can’t easily get up and down from the floor?

Good news – yoga doesn’t have to be done on the floor. Almost every pose can be adapted for a chair, or the wall, and I have chairs at the studio. Just ask.

Alternatively, you can do a mat practice – and take your time moving up and down – I’m happy to assist as needed. And over time – you may notice an improvement in your mobility.

Lastly, you may like to explore joining one of my dedicated Chair Yoga classes, held at accessible locations in the Northern Beaches.

The key takeaway: It’s my job to adapt yoga to suit you. Your job is to listen to your body and stay open to the experience.

If you’d like to chat before attending, you’re welcome to book a free 1:1 consultation. More info can be found here.

Who Is Paradise Yoga For?

My classes are designed for adults of all ages and genders who want to relax, unwind and improve their overall wellbeing. Whether you’re brand new to yoga or have practised for years, you’ll find a welcoming, supportive space here.

Q: Is it suitable and safe for older adults and seniors?

Many of my students are 50+, and my classes are particularly supportive for those seeking gentle, stress-relieving yoga rather than fast flows or strong poses. You don’t need to be flexible or experienced — just open to slowing down and taking care of yourself.

There are 50 steps down to the studio. If this is not suitable for you, I’d love to see you at on of my Chair Yoga classes, held at accessible locations in the Northern Beaches.

Q: Is it suitable for men?

Yes – absolutely. Yoga was originally developed by men, for men. These days it tends to be seen as something women do, which can make men a little hesitant. But the truth is, men often benefit enormously from it – especially if they carry stress or feel stiff in their bodies.

The classes are gentle and slow – no pretzel shapes required. Some of my most dedicated students are men.

Q: Should I encourage my partner to come?

Absolutely – but gently! People tend to get the most out of yoga when it’s their choice, so the key is to inspire curiosity rather than pressure.

A great way to do this is by demonstrating what you love about your classes: the calm, the stress relief, the gentle movement, the feeling of having a little “time out” for yourself. Often, seeing your positive changes is more persuasive than words.

Over time, your partner may want a little of what you have – and that’s usually when they’re ready to try it for themselves.

Q: Can I bring my child?

I teach students aged 18 and over, but if your child is an adult, they’re more than welcome to join.

Classes | Passes | Pricing

Classes

All weekly studio classes are “drop-in” – no need to commit to a term or course. You just come when you fancy it (booking ahead is required, though).

Passes

If you’d like, you can buy a 3, 5, 10, 20 or 30-class pass. These are simply credits to use as and when you are ready. Passes never expire (except the 3-Class Intro Pass) and can be shared between family and friends.

You can buy a pass on the “Book A Class” page.

Note: If you’re on a pass, you don’t need to book all your classes in advance. When you buy a pass, you’ll book your first class, but the rest can be booked as you go.

Pricing

  • More information on pricing can be found here.

Free Trial Class

  • For studio classes, there is no free trial class. The large studios can afford to offer this, but as a micro-business, it’s really not an option.
  • However, I do offer a free 1:1 consultation for newcomers who would like to get to know me / the studio before booking a class. Click here for more information.
  • Or you can buy an Intro Pass, which gives you three classes for a little more than the price of two (valid for 30 days).
  • There is a First Class Free offer for Chair Yoga. No bookings needed, just come along.

Financial Challenges

  • Special Pricing is available if you are experiencing financial challenges.
  • Contact me to apply.

Cancellations | Transfers

Q: What is the Cancellation Policy?

  • Please click here for more information about the cancellation policy.

Q: How do I cancel or transfer a class?

  • You can manage your booking here.
  • Note: If you are cancelling late, the system won’t allow it, so please text me on 0416 147 009.

Mats | Props | Equipment

Q: What do I need to bring?

Not much. Everything you need is here. Just bring yourself, and maybe a jumper and socks if you like to stay cosy.

Q: What equipment do you have?

Before each class, I prepare the studio for the number of people booked in. Everyone gets their own mat, blanket, bolster and block. I also have straps, sandbags, towels, foam wedges and chairs (almost every yoga pose can be adapted to a chair if you prefer).

Q: Is there anything I shouldn’t bring?

A few things are best left at home:

  • Pets – we love them, but they’re a distraction.
  • Children or babies – same reason.
  • Water bottles – I provide water and space on the studio floor is limited.

Location | Access | Parking | Bikes

Q: What is the address?

  • The exact location is a little secret I only share with those with confirmed bookings. Your confirmation email will contain more details (check Spam, just in case).

Q: What is the access like?

  • On arrival, look for the Owl Door—a small, quirky landmark that’s been guarding the way to the studio for years. It’s your sign you’ve found the right place.
  • The Owl Door opens ten minutes before each class. Slip through the door and head down the winding steps. Pause a moment to marvel at the view of Pittwater – and you’ll find yourself at our little haven.

Q: Are there many steps?

  • There are around 50 steps, so sadly it is not suitable for wheelchairs or anyone who finds steps difficult. There is a handrail almost all the way down, with the exception of a short, flat section.

Q: Where can I park?

  • Park on the street, being mindful of the neighbours. Please don’t park on our driveway.
  • Important: If you park parallel with, or within 3m of, the double white lines in the middle of the road, you are very likely to get a ticket!

Q: Where can I leave my bike?

  • To park your bike – look over to the very left of our house (past the front door with the bee mosaic) and chain your bike to the black railings near the bins.
  • No responsibility is taken for the safety of your bike.

Bathroom Facilities

Q: Is there a bathroom, or changing facilities?

There’s a small single toilet available for use at any time.

While you can get changed in there, it’s quite compact, and there are no dedicated changing rooms.

Please note that the bathroom is up about 15 steps, and there are no shower facilities.

Private Classes

Q: Do you offer private classes?

I don’t offer private classes at Paradise Yoga or any other location.

However, if you have a group of up to six, you’re welcome to block book a regular class—just make sure to book in advance to secure spots.

If you’re specifically looking for a private session, I recommend the wonderful Jo from YogaJo in Avalon.

Gift Vouchers

Q: Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes, indeed! Click here for more information, or to buy one.

Yoga Styles

Q: What do all the different styles of yoga mean?

Great question!

And I’ve answered it in detail over here.

Chair Yoga

Q: Do you offer Chair Yoga?

Yes! In addition to my studio classes at Paradise Yoga, I also teach Chair Yoga for Seniors in accessible venues in the Northern Beaches.

For more information about these classes, click here.
